SEMITRACK expands European coverage
1 July 2004
Companies selling products into Europe are about to face one of the biggest challenges of in the history of the European Union: the forthcoming enlargement. We have been overwhelmed with interest in the areas of Product Stewardship (batteries, packaging, take-back and restricted substances) in this region.
13 countries have applied for accession to the EU, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Turkey. The EU has opened accession negotiations with all of them except Turkey. Ten of these joined on 1st May 2004, two (Bulgaria and Romania) are hoping to join in 2007
It is essential that companies operating both in the current EU Member States and in the candidate countries are informed about the relevant business challenges and opportunities that enlargement will bring, sufficiently and on time.
That is why SEMITRACK (and key member companies) have launched a new service focusing on the candidate countries and the specifics of their national legislation with timely and high qualitative information updated annually (and more regularly as more members join) to facilitate appropriate business actions where necessary.
